Volunteers
Persons wanting to give their time and talents to make a difference in the lives of others are invited to join the SRMC Volunteer Team known as Friends of Sumner Regional, where opportunities are provided for making new friends, helping others, broadening skills and knowledge, and bringing happiness to those in need. Download a Volunteer Application or download a Junior Volunteer Application. Through their unselfish spirit of giving, volunteers enhance the mission of the hospital by giving very good service to our customers. Volunteers provide patients and visitors with extra services that are above and beyond the normal healthcare setting.
Hospital administration and staff appreciate volunteers who give of their time and resources without expectation of reward. Volunteer efforts are recognized through educational classes and forums, discounts, health screenings, hospital picnics and holiday events.
Friends of Sumner Regional oversee fundraising events to support medical student education and indigent care for Sumner Regional patients. The volunteers sponsor a yearlong Lovelights program with lights sold in honor or in memory of loved ones and more than twelve other fundraising events—all to benefit student medical education and indigent care for patients. How much time would I have to give? Most volunteers work one four-hour shift each week. Some give more, some give less. Schedules are arranged to suit your availability.
What else is required of SRMC volunteers? Besides punctuality, dependability, positive attitude and a smile, volunteers support the hospital with their positive attitude and loyalty to its mission for the community.
Does it cost anything? Volunteers offer their service at no personal cost. Every volunteer is considered a member of Friends of Sumner Regional, and uniforms are issued free of charge. Volunteers are given an opportunity (optional) to donate annually to the Scholarship Fund.
What do volunteers wear? Ladies wear khaki slacks or a skirt with a Sumner Regional golf shirt or a navy jacket over a white shirt. Gentlemen wear khaki slacks with a Sumner Regional golf shirt or a navy jacket with a white shirt. Closed, comfortable shoes, such as tennis shoes, are recommended.
